The below are answers to questions that I’m guessing you may have. I’ll expand on this over time and mention additions on the main page.

Random Trivia
I’d like to have my group’s tour dates listed. How do I do that?
Over on the sidebar, you’ll see my email address. Just send me an email and we’ll go from there.
Does a band have to be nerdcore/wizard rock/8-bit/VGM to get listed?
While the site is still in its current Beta mode, I’d prefer to limit the artists listed to groups that are actively promoting geek culture with their music. This is being done so that users are not over taxed with information that they have to sort through. When the new site goes live, with tools for users to use to sift through data, I will announce changes to this policy.
If you’re not sure how the above response effects you, email me and we can talk about it.
I represent a band listed and want to have their dates removed.
Hopefully I’ll never get an email like this, but I just want to be plain about it up front. If you’re an artist that is listed on this site and you don’t want to be listed on this site, just drop me a message and I will pull your info from the site. I will also do what I can to keep your information from reappearing on the site until I hear from you or your representatives.
I represent a band listed or a venue listed and want the listing for a single show removed
As I’ve entered dates into the system I’ve tried to weed out listings that are plainly marked as private events or things that look like they may be private events. If one slips through though, please let me know and I will be happy to remove it from the listings.
How can I help?
There are generally three ways that an individual can help with the site,
1) Collect dates. When you come across some tour dates for a geeky band, send them my way. The more information the better, but simply letting me know that the dates exist and where to find them is appreciated.
2) Help enter dates. If anyone wants to help with the glamorous job of the mindless data entry of all these dates, drop me a line and I’ll see what I can do about setting you up with an account in the calendaring system.
3) Help with coding/designing. While a little spruce up of the current site wouldn’t be a horrible idea, this is primarily concerned with folks who would be willing to lend a hand with the new site. I’d really like to find someone who’d be willing to work with me on UI design. My experience is in back end coding and my design skills are pretty horrible. If anyone is willing to lend a hand, I can’t pay you for the work, but you’d have my undying gratitude and a site for your portfolio and a reference for clients. I’d also be willing to put a small badge on the site linking back to your own site.
I went to a show you listed and your information was wrong.
While I do my best to provide the most up to date information I have, I can not make any guarantees about the validity of the data I provide. Each entry features at least a link back to the artist’s site and sometimes a venue site. I sincerely encourage you to verify any data found on this site with the venue, especially if you are traveling for the event.
Where did you get the name Stop Standing Still?
The literal answer is that it is a reference to the Dismemberment Plan song, Doing The Standing Still, that resulted from a joke between myself, Z from Hipster, Please! and Church.
Less literally though, it means what ever you want it to mean. The slightly cryptic feeling the words have is one of the main reasons it was chosen. So make of it what you will. A call to revelry? A comment on the constant forward momentum of the geek lifestyle? A challenge to those who accept the status quo of geek culture as a second class citizen in our world’s collective culture? Sure, all those things and more. Basically anything you can think of. Except that. It definitely has nothing to do with that. And you should be ashamed of yourself for thinking that. Sheesh.
